Looking After Your Car To Help You Keep On The Road & With Your Cash in Your Pocket

Whilst we are not trying to teach you all to be mechanics, but within this section of the Get in Gear website we are building a collection of pages that carry information about how you can make an early identification of something that may be wrong with your car.

If you have the opportunity to spot a fault in the early stages, even if you don’t know what it is, with our help you may at least do something about the situation before something breaks, and that has got to be a good thing.

As with the old saying, a stitch in time saves nine, by spotting a defect before it develops into something more serious it can help you to keep the cost of owning a car to a minimum.

Abnormal Tyre Wear
One of the most effective tell tale signs that all is not well with your car, health-wise, can be detected by studying your tyres. This page takes you through a selection of faults that can occur to your car and how the presence of such defects will often be revealed by the condition of your tyres.

Humming Noise as You Drive
If you hear a humming or droning noise from your car as you drive along, and it gets louder when you go around a bend one way more than the other, you could well have a problem with a wheel bearing.

Shrieking Noise Under The Bonnet
When you rev your engine, especially just after you have started the car, if you hear an ear–splitting shrieking noise from under the bonnet, what is it likely to be?
